Gladio Salutum
The aim of Gladio Salutum to introduce people to the swords path as taught by Fiore dei Liberi over 600 years ago.
To help people to become at one with the longsword in the hands and move freely, and in doing so improve health and outlook by finding peace in the perfection of the moment.

The Segno: Ellefante, Lione, Tigre Cervino 4 virtues of Fiore
Ellefante: I am the elephant, and I carry a castle as cargo. And I do not kneel or lose my footing.
Lione: None carries a more ardent heart than me, the Lion. But to everyone I make an invitation to battle.
Tigre: I, the Tiger, am so swift to run and to wheel that even a bolt from the sky cannot overtake me.
Cervino: No creature sees better than me, the Lynx. And I always set things in order with compass and measure
Otto Colpi, Quattro Tempi
Using the visual aid of the Segno. It is possible to perform a series of 8 cuts, within 4 movements
As a step towards the eight cuts, first we will do 4 in sequence.

Roverso Sottano
Mandritto Sottano
Roverso Fendente
Perform this slow and steady. Once we have the pattern mastered, we can then introduce a series of cuts that will become 8 colpi in 4 tempi.
Falso Mandrito Fendente

Adapting the Segno
Using the Segno as a visual aid, you can then devise a pattern of cuts that allow for a much longer sequence.
In order to do so, we follow the basic rule of starting the cuts on the mandritto soprano quarter, then when we have finished those 4 cuts, we then start the next sequence on the mandritto sotto quarter.
The next sequence will then start on the roverso soprano quarter, and when finished the last sequence will start on the roverso sotto quarter.
Cool down.
